Mock-Ups

Drone

I decided to go for a very simple spherical design for the drone to give it a clean-cut look. I chose white for its colour to help emphasise this. The reason I wanted the drone to give off this is impression is because it juxtaposes with the threat/danger that the drone poses.

Matte Painting

The wall in the matte painting represents the metaphorical and literal barrier between Sam and this foreign, dystopian world. In the second image, I chose not to include the buildings as it makes the mystery of what is behind the wall even stronger because you don't have any hint of what's there.

Screencaps:

The first shot is of a sunrise, the connotation of which is a new beginning. However, it is distorted and darkened, symbolising that something bad is going to/has happened (foreshadowing the dystopian future).

This shot indicates to the viewer than some sort of machine/ai is observing everything. The darkened tones/desaturation hint that it is not used for good.

The man in the shirt resembles those who have corrupted the world and helped to form this dystopian future. The burning house behind him is representative of the destruction he has caused.
Lastly, the shot of the syringe that was given to Sam is used to indicate that it may cause harm, as represented by the flickering red which is generally associated with danger.
